Singapore Police Force patrol robot at Chingay 2018
The S5 robot's debut public deployment, supporting police security operations at an event expecting a 100,000-strong crowd on its first day.

In its debut public showcase, the Singapore Police Force patrol robot supported security operations at Chingay 2018, an event expecting a 100,000-strong crowd on its opening day. The robot was invited to a public event to show how police work can be augmented by technology, and can also assist with crowd management through built-in speakers that broadcast audio messages.
The robot follows a pre-mapped route and avoids obstacles in its path. Six surround cameras feed continuous 360-degree live video back to the command post, where threats and suspicious behaviour can be assessed and officers deployed accordingly. This was the force's first trial of the patrol robot.
