Small and mid-sized business
We help small and mid-sized businesses move field work from fixed schedules to live data
Our work for small and mid-sized businesses includes PestBusters' industry transformation programme, the first project under the Lead Enterprise Development Scheme. It also includes fleet communications for a workforce of 1,800 at Chye Thiam Maintenance, environmental monitoring for ENGIE and an AI diagnostic platform for HAAR.
The problems we solve
UNIT 01Our clients in this sector brought us these problems
- Field staff check every trap or site on a fixed schedule, whether or not there is any activity.
- Supervisors must see and direct a large mobile workforce without travelling to each site.
- Facilities need real-time environmental data to control comfort and energy use.
- A consumer business needs a diagnostic and online sales platform that runs on production cloud infrastructure.

Services that apply
UNIT 02Two of our four service lines apply to this sector
Systems integration
We integrate industrial control, operational technology (OT) and enterprise systems. We cover every stage, from the feasibility study to long-term maintenance and support.
Explore systems integrationAI workflow automation
We apply agentic AI, robotic process automation (RPA), computer vision and predictive maintenance where they remove manual work from your operations. We confirm that your data can support each use before we build it.

UNIT 03We have delivered 4 published projects in this sector
ENGIE
IoT environment monitoring across three critical facilities
A set of Internet of Things (IoT) and integrated building management sensors that sends real-time environmental data into ENGIE's own digital solutions. We deployed it at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Ng Teng Fong Hospital and Changi Airport to improve comfort control and energy efficiency.
PestBusters
Industry transformation programme, phases one and two
This was Singapore's first Lead Enterprise Development Scheme project. It addressed a problem that grows with every new site. Each site adds more bait boxes, glue traps and cage traps that staff must check routinely, whether or not there is any rodent activity. Most of these traps are in hard-to-reach places such as gutters, false ceilings and high structures.
Chye Thiam Maintenance
Unified communications and live-streaming fleet cameras
T.Flex is a cross-platform unified communications system for a workforce of 1,800, built on the TASSTA platform. It provides secure, mission-critical push-to-talk, messaging, voice recording and GPS asset tracking. Live-streaming body cameras and vehicle cameras, including cameras on beach-cleaning vessels, mean supervisors travel less. Coordinators use the camera feeds to reroute crews in real time.
HAAR
AI diagnostic and e-commerce platform for scalp longevity
HAAR is a scalp longevity brand. It treats the biological condition of the scalp, beneath the surface symptoms. The platform we built supports three steps: diagnose, treat and maintain. An AI-customised diagnostic engine assesses the biology of each customer's scalp. An adaptive treatment system then tailors care to that condition and to the customer's lifestyle. A shop of daily scalp longevity products keeps customers coming back after treatment.

UNIT 04Our articles on this sector
Sector notesSingapore SMEs tripled their AI use, but the gap with larger firms still widened
Data from the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) shows that 95.1 percent of small businesses already use at least one digital tool, and that AI use tripled between 2023 and 2024. The main constraint is choosing the wrong first use case.
Sector notesYour first AI use case decides whether the programme survives
MIT's research states clearly that most pilot failures come from poor use case selection. The first two or three use cases carry far more weight than later ones, and the usual instinct for choosing them is the opposite of what works.
Sector notesWhat grant assessors look for in an application
Two of our named projects were grant-funded: the Raymang Eggs robotics line under an Enterprise Development Grant, and the PestBusters programme, the first project under the Lead Enterprise Development Scheme. The technology did not win either grant. Both applications succeeded because they set out a defined problem, a scoped project and an outcome that could be measured.
